Low key and minimalist decor highlight this well deserved 2 Michelin starred restaurant. Most suitable for gourmands that wish to try modern yet traditional haute French cuisine. The focus is the food and the service is impeccable without being overbearing. Those that want to brag to friends about a "scene" should look elsewhere, like Hotel Costes. A bargain find is their lunch menu for 70. Their champagne selection is on point!

Passage 53 is a deceptive restaurant in almost all respects from the minimalist but elegant website which says little beyond the address and a online booking form, to its location in a busy narrow covered arcade full of antiques: books, post cards and stamp shops, and lots of cafes. Passage 53 is easy to find as it is the shop front with no signs beyond a door (with passage 53 in small letters) and a large (white curtained) window. It is the most unassuming shop front in the arcade. Inside the design is elegant minimalism from the wall design to beautiful table settings of blue ceramic plates (which are for decorations with subsequent and equally refined plates and tableware used). The glassware are just as exquisite. Downstairs there are ten tables to seat around 25, and upstairs via a 200 year old narrow spiral ‘crazy staircase’ (as the chief waiter called it) is the kitchen and bathroom. The deceptive element is that despite the staff being mostly Japanese the food does not have ‘fusion’ or Asian influences - it is classic French dining in which local flavours dominate. My wife and I had the nine course tasting menu plus the special plate of 20g of caviar which we shared as an extra. The most used phrase from me throughout the lunch was ‘Good Lord’. Each dish was exquisite. From the broccoli puree gazpacho, to chopped oyster and seafood in a bed of knife thin slices beetroot, to the asparagus ‘towers’ as the three entrees. The mains were another asparagus wrapped in a Spanish cured beef, steamed turbot and finally a lamb cutlet to die for. The desserts were a lemon sorbet, a dish of wild strawberries and finally an updated and very fine “apple pie”. All of which were taste sensations. We had a bottle of Sancerre to go with it and a glass of Bollinger start. While Passage 53 avoided the full theatre of choreographed service other Michelin star restaurants do, the service was excellent the only slight quibble being another fluent English speaker on the floor would help but that is a minor quibble in a dining tour de force. Ranking it among the Michelin star restaurants we have been I hard, but it is probably the best for sheer dining delight.

one of the good tasting menu I had. It’s well balanced and innovative. Dessert is impressive. Service is okay. Need a bit more attend to customers.

Excellent food, as is expected from a 2 star Michelin restaurant. It's a tiny place, so book in advance. Also, they offer a lunch menu for half the price of the evening menu.

Now la Table 53, the chef delivers a refined and farm fresh dinner. The service is very professional yet not stuffy, staff was very friendly.Highlights of our dinner were the oysters, the fish (barbot) and the lamb which was delightfully buttery.

Beautifully refined French cooking with Japanese influences. There was a highly inventive use of various seafood. The wine list also broad and has a huge selection of Burgundy.
